anexio® 2P takes plant operation to a new level. What makes the difference is the combination of forecasting, optimization and direct integration with the process control system. This not only reveals potential but also translates it into specific operating strategies.
You don’t have to shoot for the moon to take big steps.
Reduce energy costs. Keep your plant running safely.
Explained in three minutes: see how anexio® 2P uses existing operational flexibility to take advantage of lower energy costs and deliver an optimized operating strategy for your process control system.
Cost-optimized production planning with anexio® 2P
anexio® Production Prognosis (2P) uses forecasting to optimize energy-intensive plants and processes. The application combines internal operational data with external factors to predict future conditions. It then draws on additional inputs, including wholesale electricity prices and local photovoltaic (PV) generation, to develop an optimized operating strategy and make it available to the process control system.
Wherever operating conditions can be predicted and loads can be shifted over time, anexio® 2P helps ensure that facilities are operated in an energy- and cost-efficient manner. The application takes into account technical limitations, availability, storage and buffer capacities, energy prices, and operational requirements.
What sets anexio® 2P apart is the combination of forecasting, optimization and direct integration with the control system. 2P calculates projected trends, evaluates possible operating scenarios, and implements the best available production plan into ongoing plant operations in a transparent and traceable manner.
How it works
At a glance
- Forecasting future demand volumes using existing plant, process, and consumption data, as well as integrating relevant external variables
- Technical specifications, safety limits, and availability as the framework for optimization
- Develops optimized operating strategies for the plant
- Shifting loads to economically viable time windows, provided that operations permit it
- Transfers optimized schedules directly to the process control system
- Transparent visualization of forecasts, schedules, and operating states
- The operator retains full control at all times, as traditional operating modes remain available
Use Case: Cost-Effective Filling of Elevated Tanks
Water utilities face a twofold challenge: They must ensure a reliable supply at all times while keeping energy consumption and costs as low as possible. This places particular emphasis on energy-intensive processes such as pumping and reservoir management.
Water reservoirs must be sufficiently filled to cover peak demand, disruptions, and operational requirements. This leaves only limited room for maneuver.
Filling elevated tanks is an energy-intensive task. Rising and fluctuating electricity prices make the timing of filling more economically significant.
Water demand varies with the time of day, the weather, events and the season. Operators need to time pumping carefully to meet demand without starting too early or choosing unsuitable operating periods.
Solar power generation and favorable energy time windows do not always align with storage levels and consumption. As a result, economically viable operating times often go unused.
Reduce Energy Costs
anexio® 2P helps water utilities plan ahead to fill elevated reservoirs safely and cost-effectively. It calculates when each pump should run to meet water demand across the supply area at all times while taking advantage of lower-cost energy periods.
The application factors in current reservoir levels, forecast water demand, technical limits and available energy data, including electricity prices and expected local PV generation.
The result is a detailed filling schedule specifying which pumps should run, when and for how long, and the target reservoir level. The schedule can be used in the process control system, allowing pumping to be planned more cost-effectively while maintaining a reliable water supply at all times.
Our actual operational data revealed potential energy cost savings of up to 30%. What’s particularly impressive is that anexio® 2P leverages existing leeway for optimization without compromising operational safety.
Elevated reservoirs, basins and buffer storage provide flexibility between when water is pumped and when it is needed. anexio® 2P utilizes these capacities to ensure that pumps can be scheduled proactively and in a cost-effective manner.
The application assesses when to fill reservoirs based on water demand, storage levels, energy prices and pump availability. This ensures that operating times are scheduled within time slots that meet process requirements and make economic sense.
The planned operating strategy takes into account the projected PV output and electricity market prices. This allows for better utilization of locally generated energy and a more cost-effective approach to electricity procurement.
